Coursing Through The Wires #10

| | Comments (1)

Two separate entries joined together -- a recent radio show and a recently-revisited cassette demo.  Taking them in reverse order...

Part I: The Senses were a neo-psych band in London (with Belfast roots) that just missed their slot -- a little late for the Paisley Underground (and on the wrong side of the pond to hook into that gang), not dense enough for the shoegazers, and too early for the fools who glommed onto the Gallagher twins.  I received this demo tape in early 1992 and enjoyed it enough to play it on the radio occasionally  and to keep it through numerous cross-country moves since then.  (It helps that I'm a bit of a pack rat, but still...)

  • Listen to What Matters Lies Ahead
  • Listen to Twisted Time

Kieran McMahon continues to make music today in a very different vein, while his former bandmates seem to have stayed clear of interwebnet references to date.

Part II: I got an opportunity to plan ahead and bring some records with me for what turned out to be a lovely (if too short) 2-hour excursion at my old stomping grounds, WPRB-FM.  I still need to work out some technical bugs to share some slightly obscure MP3blog finds, but the show went pretty well.  Thanks to all who called or stopped in or just kept score at home... I really do miss having a regular air slot (once a month would be ideal). Gory details after the jump.

This show was a good deal of fun to listen to. I hope there will be more chances to hear you on-air in the future.
